Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has issued an executive order mandating all 896 barangays and frontline City Hall offices to conduct weekly clean-up drive.

Domagoso signed Executive Order No. 43 as he was delivering “The Capital Report: The First 100 Days of Bagong Maynila” before members of the City Development Council at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

The order covers all barangay chiefs as well as heads of the Market Administration Office, City Hospitals, City Universities, Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW), Manila Barangay Bureau (MBB), Parks Development Office (PDO), Manila Tourism and Cultural Affairs Bureau (MTCAB), Department of Public Services (DPS), Public Recreations Bureau (PRB), Manila City Library (MCL), Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW), Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) and Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO).

“All above concerned officials are hereby directed to conduct a once a week clean-up drive in their respective offices and other facilities and areas within their jurisdiction or under their care and management,” the order stated.

“A weekly report of compliance shall be submitted to the undersigned (the City Mayor) through the Office of the City Administrator,” it added.

Through the executive order, Domagoso has formally institutionalized the regular clean-up drives under the so-called ‘Bagong Maynila’ administration.

Since day one of the administration, all city government-operated public markets have been regularly reporting to City Administrator Felixberto Espiritu their respective daily clean-up activities.

Likewise, for the past 100 days, the MDRRMO has been conducting daily flushing operations in the streets of the nation’s capital.

In support of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s directive to clear all public roads and sidewalks of obstructions, the DEPW, DPS, MTPB and Manila Police District have been consistently conducting clearing opeartions, even after the 60-day deadline set by the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
