Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said he is among the nine Metro Manila mayors who voted in favor of implementing modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) in the National Capital Region (NCR), according to a report by Manila Bulletin

Domagoso said he wanted to further ease quarantine restrictions to boost the economy after the COVID-19 crisis.

“Yes po,” he said in a message to reporters on Thursday (Feb. 18) when asked if he was among the nine mayors who voted in favor of MGCQ.

“We need to create more economic activity,” he said in a separate message.

Metro Manila mayors will recommend placing NCR under the least strict MGCQ to the national government after nine out of 17 mayors voted in its favor.

According to reports, four mayors voted to retain Metro Manila’s GCQ status but allow those aged 15 to 65 to leave their houses.

The four remaining mayors, meanwhile, wanted to retain the capital region’s GCQ status and the guideline that only allows those aged 18 to 65 outside of their houses.
