Isko to be awarded Gusi Peace Prize
Manila Mayor Francisco Isko Moreno Domagoso is set to receive the prestigious Gusi Peace Prize for 2019.
The Gusi Peace Prize Philippine and International Committee recognized the mayor’s “untiring effort, working for people’s amelioration, to find peaceful solutions for people’s welfare by promoting peace through statesmanship.”
The group also said Domagoso “greatly contributed to the lives of people by consistently creating positive changes” since he was elected as mayor of Manila.
The award recognizes his involvement in reducing crime and environmental degradation in the nation’s capital and his “rapid movement in a short span of time.”
The Gusi Peace Prize International Group recognized his work since he started as a vice mayor and councilor in Manila.
“Your endeavors had provided great opportunities that ameliorated the political standards and quality of life, therefore achieving peace and prosperity,” the group said.
The Mayor will receive his award during a ceremony at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on Nov. 27.
Presidential Proclamation No. 1476 declares every fourth Wednesday of November as Gusi Peace Prize International Friendship Day.
