Manila Mayor Francisco 'Isko Moreno' Domagoso approved on Monday, February 22, the P10,000 financial aid for each family who lost their homes in the fire that broke out in Parola, Tondo over the weekend.

The fire had razed a residential area in Parola, Tondo, Manila early Sunday, February 22. The Bureau of Fire Protection-National Capital Region (BFP-NCR) revealed that reached the fourth alarm at 1:49 AM and was declared under control at 5:04 AM. It was already 6:11 AM when it was fully extinguished.

The BFP-NCR said 300 houses, which were mostly made of light materials, were destroyed. Some 600 families were rendered homeless. Five people died in the fire: 37-year-old Jake Loyola and four children aged 12, 10, eight, and three. They were all residents of Area F, Gate 20, in Parola Compound. Five other people (four adults and a nine-year-old boy) were injured in the fire.

The displaced families are currently at the P. Guevarra Elementary School, where modular tents were set up for them.
