Manila ready for 'Deltacron' threat
The Manila city government is preparing for the possible effect of the reported new COVID-19 variant called “Deltacron”, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.
Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan discussed measures to counter the possible new surge in Covid-19 cases due to Deltacron.
Domagoso reminded the city to continue observing the prevailing preventive measures to protect themselves and their loved ones from Covid-19.
“Hindi po porke bumababa ang kaso ay magre-relax tayo. Hindi natin alam kung ano ang maaring mangyari although nananalangin tayong huwag naman sana magka-surge (The decrease in the number of cases is not a reason for us to be relaxed. We’ll never know what might happen although we’re praying that there will be no more surge),” Domagoso said on Saturday, March 12.
In her weekly capital report, Lacuna said the quarantine facilities of the city are already vacant.
Domagoso and Lacuna also assured that the city government will make the quarantine facilities available for another possible surge, especially now that the National Capital Region (NCR) is under Alert Level 1.
Lacuna also reported the arrival in the city of 2,500 boxes of Covid-19 medicine Bexovid.
