Manila secures vaccine deal with AstraZeneca
Manila City Mayor Isko Moreno announced that a tripartite deal was already signed with the national government and AstraZeneca for the acquisition of COVID-19 vaccines for the city's residents, according to a report by GMA News.
Moreno said a total of 800,000 vaccines would be procured under the agreement.
Moreno also bared that a storage facility for COVID-19 vaccines will be built in the city.
The mayor already signed the documents for the acquisition of 12 units of refrigerators and 50 units of transport coolers as part of the city's preparation for the arrival of COVID-19 vaccines.
The storage facility will be built in Sta. Ana Hospital.
A pre-registration portal for the COVID-19 vaccination for Manila residents was already launched on January 1.
Moreno had approved a supplemental budget amounting to P200 million for the procurement of COVID-19 vaccines. He said this could be increased, if needed.
