NCRPO, Ayala Foundation recognize 2 hero cops

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and the Ayala Foundation feted two police officers on Tuesday for their exemplary deeds of heroism.

Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) chief, said Patrolman Jonathan Stanley Berdon Dionisio of the Manila Police District (MPD) and Cpl. Jeffrey Maneclang Javier of the Southern Police District (SPD) were the latest recipients of the Pulis Magiting award.

Dionisio chased a snatcher and helped a distressed citizen in Lagusnilad, Manila while Javier helped rescue a man who tried to take his life at the rooftop of a building in Parañaque.

Eleazar commended the goodness of police personnel, not only as professional servants but more importantly as human beings.

“While we are swift in punishing the bad elements in our ranks, we are equally swift in commending and giving awards to our deserving policemen. Both cops went the extra mile in carrying out their duties as policemen. As the regional director of NCRPO, it makes me proud seeing them being recognized by the public we ought to serve and protect,” he said.

The award aims to recognize and provide modest rewards to policemen performing good deeds, not only as public servants but more importantly as compassionate and gallant persons.

Meanwhile, Eleazar also said the NCRPO has officially launched a revolutionized operational policy called the Intensified Cleanliness Policy (ICP).

He explained the ICP’s promise of stimulating cleanliness internally (within the police ranks) and externally (cleaning every community of crime and drugs).

Metro Manila’s top cop basically referred to the three tenets of ICP -- “kalinisan sa ating mga opisina at kapaligiran” (cleanliness of offices and surroundings); “kalinisan sa ating sariling hanay” (cleanliness among the ranks); and “kalinisan sa krimen at droga"(cleanliness from crime and illegal drugs).

The ICP launch and Pulis Magiting awarding ceremony were spearheaded by Eleazar along with Celerina Asuncion R. Amores, senior director for communication of the Ayala Foundation, Inc.; Gilliann Renae S. Ebreo, Ayala Foundation project officer; and Katherine Camille M. de Leon, sales and marketing officer of the Family Doc Clinic and Pharmacy.

The ceremony was witnessed by members of the NCRPO Command Group, district directors, station commanders, media practitioners, and other stakeholders.
