Manila Mayor Commends Graduates of City Jail Learning Program

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan delivered an inspirational message to the graduates of the alternative learning system at Manila City Jail Male Dormitory on Friday, September 22.

Mayor Lacuna-Pangan commended the graduates for their remarkable dedication and perseverance in pursuing education despite the challenges posed by their circumstances. She emphasized that their current situation of incarceration did not deter them from achieving this significant milestone in their lives.

The event celebrated the achievements of a total of 411 students, consisting of 146 elementary graduates and 365 junior high school completers, all of whom were awarded certificates of completion by the Department of Education. This recognition serves as a testament to their hard work and commitment to education.

During the ceremony, Mayor Lacuna-Pangan was accompanied by notable figures, including Manila City Jail Warden JSupt. Lino Soriano, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology NCR Regional Director JCSupt Clint Russel Tangeres, CESE, Division of City Schools - Manila (DCS Manila) Assistant Superintendent Atty. Antonio Casangkapan, and DCS Manila Education Coordinator Lea Faa.
